• Request for ANSI

    From Gryphon@46:1/116 to All on Sat Jul 16 16:35:58 2016
    Hello all you ansi artists!
    I am close to releasing my Fallox (Falling
    Blox) MPL. It's a
    Tetris game forMystic BBS. Th
    ere's this feature that I want to add to it
    , and it is to haveansi's in the game
    . I've already gotten some from LDA (
    Thanks! They lookgreat!)
    But I would like to have several more.
    I also need an openingsplash screen. I
    would like to keep the theme of the ANSI where they bring
    back the feel of the Tetris Arcade game. I
    'm thinking russian onion toppedtowers, cyril
    ic writing, etc.Below are
    the ansi's that LDA provided. I
    would like them to have the sameperportions. 24
    chars wide and 22 chars tall, with a simp
    le border. Theseansis will be displayed ins
    ide the game and will randomly rotate at certainintervals
    .I'll give full props to the auth
    ors. This is a game that will prolly be onm
    any Mystic BBSes and the ansis will get viewed each t
    ime its played.If you know of an aven
    ue where some artists are not seeing this echo, please
    forward the request on to them where appropriate.----- -------------------------------------▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀

    Yeah it really does look great. Gryphon's stuff is always great to see!

    Geez that is an addictive game. I log in while I'm at work sometimes and if I start playing Double Up, I'll still be playing an hour later. It's a sickness.

    Yeah it really got me too. There was a bug in MPL and I had to use it to fix and test said bug. I would get caught up playing it forever...

    I did at one time, but not lately. In fact, I don't really even look at Gryphon's stuff lately unless he finds a bug. Thats the only reason I've seen DoubleUp, Dopewars, Doctor Who, Space Dynasty, etc, over the years.

    I'm not even sure if he's released some of them.

    His code has not only been great for MPL games, but its been great for really making MPL stable too. Makes me proud to see MPL at a point where its capable of making games like this, and proud of the authors who create them.

    well for some reason there seems to be a bug in the input() if i type Q or
    add it to quit the game it does not see it and have toplay all 10 rounds to
    get it to end. its been that way since i first made the mpl back in the old days. the file is dm-mm200.zip you can grab it on my board ;) so i had to put it back to how it used to be but modernized. gryphon helped me with the new data reading changes so i could see how it's changed since 2002 hehe

    Can you make a demo of that? It seems odd there would be such a simple bug when we have some many oodles of MPL programs and no one mentioning it.

    I really don't have a lot of time to run through it right now. I have so
    many things to do, but if you want to make an example program to send me that demonstrate the bug I'd be happy to look at it.

    you can download dm-mm200.zip its there in the game when you play.

    i am using
    uinput := str2int(input(4, 4, 12, ''));
    uinput is an integer. i tried regular input this is what i tried.

    str3 := input(4,4,12,'');
    if str3 ='Q' exit endif
    uinput := str2int(str3) endif

    i will email you the zip to the gmail account.. i tried netmail but my
    uplink in fido has netmail issues sending but i can recieve

    and thank you for looking at it.

    + Added a new MPL function called OneKeyRange. This function works similar to OneKey, except that it will also allow for a number input within a certain range. The number value is stored in a variable cal
    RangeValue and the function returns a #0 if a number was entered.
    example:

    but you seen how i have it. will it read 4 characters? because after
    that i seperate each number for evaluation.

    It doesn't work that way. If you want to do it that way, then I would do
    some loop or something to get 4 individual numbers.

    It doesn't work that way. If you want to do it that way, then I woul some loop or something to get 4 individual numbers.

    but this is how i get the numbers and separate them:

    fn := ui / 1000;
    sn := ui / 100 % 10;
    tn := ui / 10 % 100 % 10;
    ln := ui % 1000 % 100 % 10;

    I see. You have one number, and you divide each one into single digits? Why not just:

    fn:=Int2Str(Copy(ui,1,1))
    sn:=Int2Str(Copy(ui,2,1))
    tn:=Int2Str(Copy(ui,3,1))
    ln:=Int2Str(Copy(ui,4,1))

    No you have to read it as a string and test it.

    Str := Input(4, 4, 12, '');

    If Upper(Str) = 'Q' Then
    Quit := True
    Else
    WriteLn ('You entered ' + Str2Int(Str) + '!.');

    Pause;

    You may be interested in the OneKeyRange function, it will accept a range of numbers being inputting but will also exit on a hot key.

    but you seen how i have it. will it read 4 characters? because after that i seperate each number for evaluation.
    It doesn't work that way. If you want to do it that way, then I would do some loop or something to get 4 individual numbers.

    but this is how i get the numbers and separate them:

    fn := ui / 1000;
    sn := ui / 100 % 10;
    tn := ui / 10 % 100 % 10;
    ln := ui % 1000 % 100 % 10;

    Hello all you ansi artists!

    I am close to releasing my Fallox (Falling Blox) MPL. It's a Tetris game Mystic BBS. There's this feature that I want to add to it, and it is to h ansi's in the game. I've already gotten some from LDA (Thanks! They look great!) But I would like to have several more. I also need an opening splash screen. I would like to keep the theme of the ANSI where they brin back the feel of the Tetris Arcade game. I'm thinking russian onion toppe towers, cyrilic writing, etc.

    I have not had any response from artist acknowledging my request. I
    understand that they may not be viewing this echo, so I'm thinking I need to take the request to them. Does anybody know the best way? I'm not really on facebook, so maybe somebody can do an extend out to them there, for me?

    hmmm please more info. is this is in mpl since 1.10?

    + Added a new MPL function called OneKeyRange. This function works similar
    to OneKey, except that it will also allow for a number input within a
    certain range. The number value is stored in a variable called
    RangeValue and the function returns a #0 if a number was entered. For
    example:

    Var
    Ch : Char;
    Begin
    Write ('Enter letters A-G or a number between 1-50: ');

    Ch := OneKeyRange('ABCDEFG', 1, 50);

    If Ch = #0 Then
    WriteLn ('You entered a number: ' + Int2Str(RangeValue))
    Else
    WriteLn ('You entered character: ' + Ch);
    End.
