• Doorparty and Mystic

From Tiny@46:1/126.1 to All on Thu Jun 23 14:59:00 2016
    Hello All!

Can someone running Mystic BBS on a pi (or linux in general I guess) give me
step by step on how to connect with doorparty? The problem I'm sure is with
the ssh part and not mystic but I figure this way my bases are covered. ;)

One thing I discovered ws you need to run ssh at least once before running sshpass.

    ssh -f USERNAME@dp.throwbackbbs.com -L 9999:dp.throwbackbbs.com:513 -N

    before running:
    sshpass -p PASSWORD ssh -f USERNAME@dp.throwbackbbs.com -L 9999:dp.throwbackbbs.com:513 -N

Excuse my ignorance, but what is doorparty? is it like BBSLink? because I
have BBSLink working fine on my Mystic setup.

It is much like BBSLink but it is much bigger in door selection. I have yet
to make my way there but it's on the todo list. It also works differntly that BBSLink. I think connections are done by ssh but I haven't had a closer look yet..

Yeah same thing, more games different server and has a web UI which I think
is better than BBSLink and more games than BBSLink at the current time.

Yes it's similar but seems to be a much much much more complex setup. I have bbslink running as well no problems.

I have bbslink running as well no problems.

The older BBS software seems to have issues with running out of environment space no matter what, but Ruben Figueroa and I banged out a solution to it. Check the GAP HOW-TO on the forums as an example of the batch file setup
you'll need with BBSes that have environment issues.

I agree that the intial setup is a little more complex than BBSLink, but once it's up and running you can just set it and forget it. If any new doors are installed they'll be right there on the DoorParty server, with nothing else for the Sysop connecting to it to do.

I'm still working on it. I have given up trying to get it to work on
the windows xp box. Just concentrating on mystic now.

I was having this problem with WWIV and GAP and found a way, with help from Maskreet to resolve the out of environment space.

Be glad to send over my settings for either of those bbs's or just look on DoorParty server web, should have the info you need.

But my GAP and WWIV bbs's are connecting to door party successfully. On WWIV you will need to had the %U option to send the user name, should be running latest build of WWIV to make this work. Older version do not have that.

I haven't tried the latest Gamesrv that includes the door32.sys

Anything I need to know before I try it out?

No just follow the GAP instructions you wrote, and remove the "" from
    around the command line.

Thanks. What about the new GameSrv, anything specifically about that which is different from his prior release. Well, no matter, going to try it out anyways the latest he's got.
