• Mystic mis2 vs mis

From h7@46:2/101 to All on Tue Oct 31 07:27:25 2017

should i be switching over to mis2 with mystic 1.12a35?

i'm used to running mis on a wfc mode in my linux vps to see what the node status is and what kind of barbarians am i having at the gate.

for some reason it too has crashed a few times, two times this morning and apparently sometime quite fast after i upgraded from 1.11 to the current
alpha. nothing of value in the logs that'd explain the crash.

I've had nothing but problems on any version past A33 or so. I install the new ones, they crash, so I roll back to the last working version. I can't isolate what's causing the issue, because as you mentioned, there is nothing of note
    in the logs!

Hopefully it gets worked out before long.

i dont know if i should be using mis2 or not but it seems like its the only
way the telnet server stays up. with mis it just dies without errors.
    downside is that
    - events dont seem to run anymore
    - country code based banlist doesnt work (i get hammered by telnet scans)

i configd my bbs to join spooknet/amiganet/retronet, tried posting but
nothing goes through. maybe its just me, or the message networks.

also: while configuring the new message areas, the config tool lost the uplink node address. had to reconfigure it to all the message areas. sometimes twice.

im thinking to revert back to the 1.11 i had.

You can run both mis and mis2 at the same time. I have mis running to handle events, ftp, and nntp access, while mis2 handles telnet, ssh, rlongin, and binkp.

Yep, you can do almost everything with MIS2 now, and just use MIS for running the events. I run both over here for that very reason. I run telnet and ssh
on MIS2 and the bink server on MIS. I can't recall why I did it that way, but there was some issue that forced me to use MIS for bink.

i suppose its the thing with mis not being able to run without any services
in it. so i'm thinking i'll do the same. telnet via mis2 and bink via mis.
