• Mystic BBS connection problem

From cozmo@46:10/131 to All on Thu Jan 28 17:41:25 2021
I installed Mystic BBS on a windows 7 computer and went through all the configurations but I'm unable to telnet to the BBS even on the host computer. At first I thought I did something wrong with the port forwarding but everything check out fine with that. So, I installed WWIV BBS and I'm able to login through telnet on the host computer and from other computers on my network. Am i missing some configuration setting or something? I'm at a loss.
I researched the hell out of this on google with no luck. Any help would be appreciated! Oh, WWIV is installed on the same computer as Mystic.

What does the log say or the server's status screen? I am guessing you have it set to port 23? Linux will not let anything that isn't a root user connect on ports less than 1024 so you either would need to run the MIS server with sudo or modify policy to allow it to accept connections on port 23. You could also set the port to 2323 or something and try that.

I figured it out after endless hours of investigating. My firewall blocking MIS for some reason. And I was launching MIS wrong. Went to the command line and used MIS /server and all is well. Thanks for answering my message.

Glad to hear! The current development of Mystic and Synchronet are really what's keeping my head in the game these days. Keep up the great work!
