• Joining Agoranet

From Dan Clough@46:1/700 to All on Sun Dec 30 09:45:50 2018
    Hello,

I'd like to join the Agoranet network. I've sent multiple emails to the address on the application, Fido Netmail to the Pharcyde sysop, and messages on the local message area here on Pharcyde. No response to any of them.

Is there some secret handshake required, or what? What do I have to do to get a response from anybody? Can someone help, or advise? Thanks.

He might be out and about for the holidays. Give it a bit after New Year's, he'll get to you eventually =)

There is, and it involves having a $50 in your hand while doing a high-five ;) But yeah he's probably just out on vacation for a bit. Peace!

Be glad you're not trying to join LinuxNet. I've had an app waiting there for two years without a response ;)

As others have said, Holidays are busy times. I've gone months without thinking/looking at my BBS just due to general apathy, or finding other things that I want to focus my energy on (like fishing!) Give him time, I'm sure he'll get to you. :)

That happens sometimes. With other hobbies and other things going on, sometimes I don't mess with my BBS for a while. But I'll keep it running as long as I can.

There was some talk by Nicholas awhile ago about shutting down the
network .. I'm not sure what is happening with that, I'm just
continuing to poll for messages until there is no longer a response
    from Pharcyde ..

Well....... it's been "a bit" and still nothing.

Does the Sysop even read this message area? Anyone know?

Sometimes sysops go through lulls of apathy, especially this day and age. A BBS can be very "Set it and forget it". Heck there was a point during this past summer where I didn't touch mine for a good 4 months other than to restart it from time to time when I remembered.

I sent Nick a netmail checking to make sure he's OK, and offering to help out if he wants any.

There seems to be a bit more interest in ANSI art over the last few years, especially with Blocktronics releasing some really amazing theme packs, and it would be a shame if Agoranet fell by the wayside.
