• The Orville S03E04 - Gently Falling Rain

This past Thursday, The Orville season 3 episode 4 ("Gently Falling Rain") was released. The episode was about a secret child of Captain Mercer (of the Orville) and Teleya (a Krill). The episode included a scene on the Krill (alien species) home world having to do with their law against abortion. The strange thing is, this episode was released just the day before the US Supreme Court (on Friday, yesterday) overturned Roe v. Wade, the decision that protected a woman's liberty to have an abortion.

I'm wondering if this was just a coincidence? It seems really odd that the episode was aired just the day before the US Supreme Court decision was made.

I guess the coincidence depends on when the episode was actually filmed? If filmed say 6 months ago, the closeness of the two occurrances may not have been planned. But if filmed last week it may have been based off of what's going on in real life. You see a lot of that with long lasting TV shows, like Law and Order, Criminal Minds, Gray's Anatomy, ER, etc. If they didn't have people keeping up with current events and creating episodes based off of real life situations, they would run out of content after a season or two.

    Regards,
    Nick
