Pipe codes should be removed from network message areas.. not everyone runs BBS
software that will translate them.

Are there color codes that Cnet will display? It's probably far too late for an RFC, but pipe codes have been pretty standard since at least the early 90's. Maybe try applying some filtering/conversion? I survived watching Pipeline try to switch to percent codes and remember doing some regex type foo to make that work. Same with PCB for the short period I used that.
