So I went to upgrade Mystic today, since there was an October version I wasn't up to yet. Only to be pleasantly surprised with an even newer version released 3 hours ago.

I think that was the best timing on a Mystic upgrade I've ever had. Usually, I upgrade and within 48 hours later there's another version out. lol

    Regards,
    Nick

Hahah I see you've found my new script! It checks your IP and goes out and builds a new version of Mystic whenever it sees you downloaded the latest version! ;)

I think the most recent one only really has a -NODC command option that someone asked for so its probably no hurry to upgrade.

I am planning to replace the old ANSI gallery with a new one that uses the new template system soon though, so that will probably be the next prealpha that I will release.

... What does it mean to pre-board? Do you get on before you get on?

I wouldn't put that past you. It's been a hell of a ride the past 20 years or so. ;)

It's all good. I'm just not letting myself fall behind as I've done in the past. Just makes it harder to catch up.

Still going to be under A47 then? I remember reading one of your posts in the recent past that you wanted to get a release out before doing anything major? Then again, the new template system has been a part of A47 so it may seem like a better idea to keep it there..?

    Nick

Hah might be a funny prank if you were actively trying to update to the latest all of the time, but unfortunately I couldn't even if I wanted to because Mystic's stuff isn't automated enough to allow for that.

I wish I had that kind of time to spare lol

You are right I wasn't planning anything else but this is a small exception. The current ANSI gallery has a memory leak in it that has been in there for a while now. I spent a little time trying to fix it but once it became clear it wasn't an obvious error I figured I should just redo it with the new template system instead (something I have wanted to do anyway).

Its pretty much done now I just have to put the help file display in it. That will probably be the end of A47 since its been so long since I did an offical release.

It's all good. I'm just not letting myself fall behind as I've done in
the past. Just makes it harder to catch up.

I hear you. I didn't realize you were back keeping up to date again! Let me know if you have any suggestions or problems or whatever!

... It said "insert disk #3", but only two will fit...

Excellent. I'll make sure to keep an eye out in the near future.

I didn't really leave or anything. Just not paying attention to Fidonet and staying under the radar, I guess. I've been keeping up to date for quite some time now (probably ever since the last time I whined about having to play catch-up; definitely been keeping up on all of A47), give or take a couple of the quick releases/fixes you've done in recent past. I still take care of my ESXi machine and update my VMs monthly-ish, which usually includes updating Mystic, Synchronet, and various other BBS related things.

I've been wanting to finish this Mystic system for awhile now while at some point making it the main system here. I just haven't had the drive to do so, and haven't touched Synchronet besides git updates - as everything on that side is so friggin automated a cat could run it. Haven't broken anything in awhile either so I haven't had to get my hands dirty. Sadly, I haven't even loaded an ansi in an editor in quite some time now - which is what's needed to finish Mystic. ;|

Just been in kind of a wierd limbo for a couple years. I still enjoy the hobby, but just don't get the kind of time to sit down and get shit done like I used to be able to do. lol

As for suggestions or problems, I can't think of any offhand. Everything runs pretty damn smooth over here, to be honest. Once I get my lazy ass back into modding, maybe I'll have some feature requests, but up until I stopped, there wasn't anything I couldn't do. ;)

    Regards,
    Nick

Hmm, Synchronet is updated all the time, even a couple of times a day so
always have the latest and greatest to play with. No need to wait for a release. Always good for fun and games :)

Rather you than me. One is enough to deal with :)

It's not that big a deal. Only one of them (Synchronet) is currently open to the public and doesn't need much personal intervention. The other is just for my own interest and keeping up with updates and newly added stuff. I've been a fan of Mystic since v1.07, which has to be a good couple decades ago already!
