How have you set it up to read synchronets config? I have it setup here but I get a message that says "There do not seem to be any mail areas defined"!

    areafile synchronet /sbbs/ctrl/msgs.cnf

    That did the trick thanks..

Is all I had to do to get the areas to show up in Golded. Then I did
some other things to add in network dividers and sorting options.

All my groups are in separate directories ../data/subs/fido and so on. I changed this area to /sbbs/data/subs/agora/ so I'll have to walk through the areas and change the paths to absolute paths so golded can read them.

Now to see if I can get sbbsecho to send this off.

    No problem.

Shouldn't matter where the files are located, as msgs.cnf has that information stored in it. Though if you want a manual list external from Synchronet, you can run Golded once with the -W switch, which will create a goldarea.inc which you can modify, add AREASEP lines to, etc.. to clean things up. Then run Golded
normally without the AREAFILE definition, but with "include goldarea.inc" instead.

Now to see if I can get sbbsecho to send this off.

Yep, it worked. Although you'll want to disable your origin line in Golded as sbbsecho already adds this when it exports, and disable the tearline in Synchronet. So that it'll use Golded's tearline. Then sbbsecho will end up in the PID kludge, as always.

... Gee! How'd you ever get it to do THAT?

Shouldn't matter where the files are located, as msgs.cnf has that information stored in it.

All the areas are listed but golded crashs if I try to read any area that isn't in ../data/subs, not sure why.

though if you want a manual list external from
Synchronet, you can run Golded once with the -W switch, which will create a goldarea.inc which you can modify, add AREASEP lines to, etc.. to clean things up. Then run Golded normally without the AREAFILE definition, but with "include goldarea.inc" instead.

That did the trick and looks like it'll be easier to work with, thanks again! A quick find and replace to the paths and all the areas are listed and I can read them.

    Luxurious!

Now to see if I can get sbbsecho to send this off.

OK, I'll have to read up on those settings and try again, maybe this weekend.

    :)

Then you can also add AREASEP lines (take a look at gold_ref.txt for usage) to separate networks with a divider line which you can hotkey to if you want to, etc. There's a bunch of stuff that can be done to make it look appealing to use. lol

I'm not sure how Al did it, but I actually disabled both the tearline and origin line on the Synchronet side. I just assumed that Golded would insert an origin line no matter what if you specified an area as echomail. sbbsecho should still add itself to the PID though..

Looks like Al went about it a little different, and has Golded in the PID, and SBBSecho in the tearline.

Other than the fact that SBBSecho invalidated a perfectly valid tearline and origin line, and then added new ones, it looks ok from here.
