    Hello All,

Here's the deal. So I'm working with Nightfox (who is the author of SlyEdit, IMO the best message editor out there for Synchroent) on trying to take out a couple functions of SlyEdit and utilize them with nano. Mainly the reformatting
    and quoting with initials.

At first it was reformatting and quoting with initials just fine, but nano wouldn't run and it would post the message anyways. Which is why you've seen empty replies by me the last few days in this echo.

My first reply to ignatius was finally a success, BUT there are a few more serious things that need to be ironed out before I can open it up to others here. Obviously if I can't make it safe for both the user as well as my system,
it will be ditched. I just had an idea, and went with it. Luckily Nighfox was a
huge help thus far and I couldn't have done this without him. :)

So, this one is posted from Golded, so it's not quite where I want it to be. Just figured I'd explain myself before people start thinking I'm crazier than they originally thought. lol

    Regards,
    Nick

It's a slow process. Thought it would be easy, but there's other things that are popping up. One thing works right though.. so that's a plus. :)

Know how you feel.. I'm playing around with old stats reporting tools and a
JAM base. Thing is it's not playing nice with the Mystic created JAM but working well with a JAM created by FastEcho.. I'll keep digging.

Gotta remember. Fastecho has been abandoned for a looooooong time. Mystic works
flawlessly with Golded these days, so as far as Mystic's JAM areas are concerned, I think Mystic is the better choice to be honest.

The niggle is the ability to pull stats from a JAM base created by Mystic
from [start date] to [end date]. When I try to use the couple of tools I have been playing with the tool reports every message in the base and does not honour the date range request. If I try the same thing with a JAM base
created in FE for the same echoarea I can pull the data correctly for X days from [start date] to [end date] - its strange.

Sorry just to clarify I'm asking specifically what you are using so that I can try it. :)

Mystic's JAM bases have been tested and work with just about everything without any known issues, so this is odd to think its something wrong with Mystic's bases. I'd like to take a look.

For the record, here's the things I've personally tested with the last time updates were made to JAM stuff:

    FastEcho
    CrashMail
    GoldEd
Telegard (copying bases between the two)
Remote Access (copying bases between the two)

Something to tinker with, is all really. Nano can read and write UTF-8, whereas
no other Synchronet editors out there can until they decide to add the support in.

Any reason is a good reason. Should ask night fox about that. Shouldn't be
too hard, of course what ever term your using will need to support it as well.

Already been in discussions with Nightfox. He helped me out quite a bit and pulled some code from SlyEdit in order to quote (with initials even) replies properly, as well as some error checking to abort and a few other things we noticed along the way.

Looking good so far, except for a couple oddities with Netrunner that I've already passed along for inspection. Still not ready for public consumption just yet, but it's definitely working as I had planned and then some. Once the display issues are worked out I'll let everyone use nano or vim right from the BBS (in restricted mode, of course, which basically only lets you deal with the
file open in the editor at the time.

Ya, nano and vim use some xterm codes for character repeating and stuff for
the title and borders.. so Netrunner will have to add xterm stuff to
displaying some of those editors correctly.
