advertisements, it can get annoying, but in his defence, he is technically advertising his BBS through the file announcements. He's specifying his BBS name, and the URL to contact it, and listing some recent files that can be downloaded from his BBS.

you dont have to come to the defense of someone who posts the same thing multiple times a day. that was over the line.

Why is this being posted in advertisements? I thought file
announcements are only posted on a net that has a special message
base for that purpose.. or am I incorrect?

As I said, when there are more file announcements than BBS advertisements, it can get annoying. But to demand him stop posting
file announcements for the reasons of it not being an advertisement is
wrong! Ban him from posting the file announcements for posting too many
too quickly, but not because they're file announcements!

i would think once a week is good

Granted, but looking at the list of files he's receiving, once a week
would be quite a long message!

I guess it`s just to find a balance to get everybody that post a chance to be seen, most of us will only post every few months, in my case when I add or restart tradewars games. Some will only post once when they start a new BBS.

so posting several time a day was a big contrast.

Who is even looking at the list of files when they get posted one at a time? If he did that, I'd just skip over the whole message.

i have a lot of stats i can autopost... but i dont do it because this is
not the right place to do it.

brown snow! Of course, I don't think I'd want to eat any red or pinkish
snow either... As far as that goes, I don't think I'd want to eat any
snow colored anything other than pure white!

Well, I read them, no matter what BBS post them! I read them to see
if they received any new files that sound interesting, and if so, I open
up synchterm and go download them, or open up Chrome, and download them
via web or ftp...

i have a lot of stats i can autopost... but i dont do it because this is
not the right place to do it.

Provided you are advertising your BBS in your posting of stats, eg.
posting stats of the latest tradewars game, posting stats about how many messages you've had posted in the various echo mail areas, etc. All
could be a form of advertisement. Heck, I suppose you could even
justify it to post the number of times you've had sex for the day,
assuming you advertise the name of your BBS on the posting. Granted,
you might find very few people actually reading your postings, and you
might find your name being listed on most folks's twit filter.
