So in my [democrat] city they had a referendum for our schools.
everybody will pay around 500 bucks more a year in house taxes because of it. there's a lot of schools that are running at 60% and 14 that are less than half full. they have a lot of teacher vancancies as well.
Recently we had another sales tax increase for city and county. those are 2 separate taxes. we also pay double for car registration if you are in city and county. same with sewer, etc charges.

The city gets a fortune for metered parking and parking tickets and street parking fees.

For a long time it looked like it wasn't going to pass. it got late and our paper reported there was a problem with the computers. Then, late into the night enough votes popped up for it to narrowly pass.

Sounds like most government issue voting. Some Federal elections in the U.S. AND Canada often go just like this.

sounds like some cheating bullshit. it wasn't always like that here.
i've only see this happen before during the last presidential election where this shit happened in my city. i think they are using their dirty tricks again.

oh that is happening. that's why there's so many schools that arent full.
if they arent full they dont make money off those kids. they get paid per child.

people are moving to the subburbs.

It does. That said, there have also been times where TV networks call
things early (and incorrectly) or report things before the facts are actually known. That makes things sound worse than they really are.

I would have thought they'd learned their lesson after the 2000 election
    but they apparently did not.

That is not to say there is not cheating going on, but that we need to keep
in mind that the source of information probably thinks it is more important
to be the first to tell us something rather than be the one that gets the
    story accurate.

people are moving to the subburbs.

Prepare for the city officials and apologists to start complaining about
and blaming those who have moved away.

The local big city goes through these cycles. Officials and "social
leaders" will complain, then they will have something like the 2020 riots
where the city does little to discourage or stop looting and destruction downtown.

Later when they start complaining again, they won't ever draw the
conclusion that allowing riots and looting might lead to people not wanting
to be there. It might be something other than riots and looting... it
could be some other event or stupid policies (like very publicly screwing the school bus routes up)... but they will never connect the dots and, if they do, they will never admit it.
