Why can't we do both? Those that can afford it, should do both.
Families that can spend money on positive, fun family memories should
not be made to feel guilty because of it. Those same families can also donate to efforts to help those in need. Our family does both. Those
that cannot afford to donate to those in need, should not be required to sacrifice their own family needs. Yes, families need fun time together
to build positive memories and share experiences together, to strengthen their family ties.
I do understand that overindulgence in "fun times" and disregarding
those in need is not a cool thing and we all should endeavor to do
better.
