IRC isn't Synchronet specific. It's Internet Relay Chat. You can use one of a million IRC clients out there. If you have a Linux shell and want text IRC, there is 'irssi' and 'wechat' and a ton of others. If you have Windows, there is AdiIRC and Hexchat and a ton more. If you have Mac, a lot of the clients are pay but you can compile Textual yourself for free (or I can put a compiled copy somewhere for you). With any of them, you just connect to irc.synchro.net.
For more infos, do a search on how to join IRC from <whatever OS you use>.

I used Mirc back in the 90's when you could flood a chat and take it over, lol, did it as a gag.

Now that they're most likely not developing HexChat any more, it might be time for a change.

I use the lounge, I have it setup on my server. I like that it can keep connections persistent. If your interested in an account let me know, I can set up an account based on your BBS account. Unfortunately, haven't had time to develop something to automatically take BBS user and add it to the lounge.

Noy getting bug fixes? No new features? I'm not married to one client and there's a boatload of IRC clients out there to play with.

I always liked mIRC. But I haven't used it much in a while, and I think the UI has changed a bit.
