I'm afraid you're right, Nightfox... I haven't seen him on SLACKERS nor my BBS either - which he used to dial into semi-monthly.

I sure hope they pop back up, we're not getting any younger; this crowd.

I have not seen his BBS ads, either but, IIRC, I think he took it down and
was posting as a user on someone else's board.

I might have his real name somewhere as he used to log on sometimes here.

I do. His last log on date was in December, 2023, which matches what info you have.

I sure hope they pop back up, we're not getting any younger; this crowd.

Yes, I am 45 and we need to help get a new generation.
Maybe we could have summer camps where the younger generations can learn
how to use a raspberry pi, learn some python, or some pascal, learn
about bbsing and stuff like that.

I've created a hackerspace in my small town in Oregon - I suggest that people do more of this... local libraries are very helpful and will give you space, and if you advert you'll find many people locally that are wanting these types of spaces.

I'm not so good w/ youngsters, but that could be a cool group too... I'd certainly create a talk if there was one around me.

Interesting, I'd love to hear more! I'm reminded of the user groups of
the 70s, 80s and 90s - low-overhead means of building a community. Most
makerspaces now have a significant amount of expense involved and act
as a co-op.

I have one makerspace near me that's got warehouse space, another is in
a junior college, a recipient of a grant that bought 3d-printers,
woodworking tools, and computers.

Oh, that's odd.

I've never gone to one, despite working at 4 Embarcadero Center in San Francisco, home of one of the meetups. the mid-90s would have been a
great time for a meetup.

I was working for a law firm and wearing suits, they would have labeled
me a FED. :)

Should be like 5 or 6, by normal standards. Kinda weird that yours meets at 7.

If it's during a work week (Monday-Friday),d I'd think 7PM would actually be a good time. I normally just get off work between 5-6PM, so having a meetup group start at that time wouldn't work very well for me.
