In an effort to start up this board again, has anyone had a problem ordering ammo online and getting it shipped in a reasonable amount of time? I ordered from Cabelas online and have been told its backordered for months. Its not some backwards caliber.. Its only Remington .270!

    Ummm.... yea.
    Remington 270.

    My M1A trumps your 270.

    .................

In all seriousness, I don't order ammo online.
Haven't had a whole lot of problems finding .308 Winchester at local distributors either.

Sorry I can't be more helpful......

I wish an M1A was legal here in the liberal city of NYC, but its considered
an "assault rifle"... I have to stick with plain jane - less than 5 rounds clip semi's at best.

    That's why I LOVE Colorado!
Even 'The People's Republic of Boulder' can't touch my guns!
(Preemptive statewide gun laws. Local municipalities can't override or implement stricter laws in the name of 'safety.')

Here's the even better one ---
    Colorado law PROHIBITS gun registration.
    (CRS 29-11.7-102)
California and NY have it ALL WRONG!

Seriously? So the guns there are not registered?

I live in Texas BTW, so would be curious to see how gun laws are handled
    here.

    As with most websites...
This is NOT a pre-emptive and definitive knowledge based site.
But it's a really good place to start the research process. http://www.usacarry.com/texas_concealed_carry_permit_information.html

Have ordered from Cabelas a few times and never had an issue. Been ordering 20Ga, 12Ga, and 30-06 never an issue. I recall some nervousness about legislation, a national DB where bullets will all be accounted for along with your name I believe was the big one, sure there were more as well. Afterward ammo went like nothing else. Specifically 9mm flew off the shelves, ammo factories were working round the clock to keep up.

No info on that front, I'm a long gun guy. Think I'd need a new pistol if this was the case.

Well, I placed another order through Cabelas online for ammo being its hunting season time again. I received my shipment of .270 very quickly. Price went up $10 a box from last year. I also noticed the same backordered .270 ammo from last year is still pending. My guess is Cabelas didn't want to part with the ammo for $10 less once it came in months later.. I have to call them and bitch.

Well there are a couple of reasons for that. First of all, the US gubmint is trying to buy up all of the ammo in HUGE lots to give to the military and the Department of Homeland Security because they're planning
on killing all of us. Second, a lot of the people who are batshit crazy
(you know, us folks that've been in the military or are normally paranoid
by nature and have planned for this contingency) have caught wind of this
and are buying up everything that is still available. Prices have skyrocketed, and supplies are very limited. I don't know if this
information is validated or not, but I heard a rumor, as well, that the US
is considering a higher tax or maybe it's just a complete ban on certain
types of non-NATO/domestic rounds such as 7.62x39mm (which I'm
particularly upset about, myself, as my favorite rifles use this).

My son is 16 year USMC Gunny now. The marines at leasty will not fire on the puplic. We have talked on this issue many time. I understand the service has been booting the soldiers out before they make the 20 years, sucks....me I need 9mm and 30.06... I did just pickup a MINI14 stainless. Nice rifle...

That's good to know about the Marines. I wish I could say the
same for all of the Army personnel that I've known. Still, I think the
amount that would fire on our citizens is well below half, though.
I definitely need more 7.62x39, 9mm, and some blackpowder
supplies. Haven't had money to try to buy anything for bulk supplies
for quite awhile now thanks to unexpected relocation this winter, etc
    etc etc.
Mini14 stainless? I have no graphical browsing capability right
now, and I'm not familiar with it off the top of my head. What's that
    like?

    Hi Khelair.....

The MINI14 is a SEMI Auto Rifle from Ruger. Great Deer rifle. Police use it for Swat at times. Got a 30 round clip that my son in Durhan NC is sending me.
I am in California, which has blocked the sale of clips above 6 rounds. IN North Carolina you just walk in store and buy the 30 round clip? Love California... The nanny state.

    Thanks for the reply...

Silly laws limiting the sale of mags above a certain number will not stop a criminal on a mission.

Heh. Yeah, rules are a bit more relaxed here (NoDakia). Thirty
round mags are pretty much everywhere around here. No limitation on
that, only for shotguns-- no alley sweepers, 1 in the chamber and 2 in
    the mag only.

Yeah, tell that to somebody raised in politics their whole life, though. :P You're absolutely right, though. It doesn't take long at
