I recently bought a IDE/ATA hard drive enclosure, but the problem is the
drive is not being recognized. Would it be my jumper settings that may not
    be making it readable?

I am currently running Windows 7 and I am trying to get a 30GB EIDE maxtor drive to be read.

The jumpers might be one reason it's not recognized. I would make sure the jumpers are set up for the drive to be the master IDE drive. If that doesn't work, perhaps your enclosure is bad, or perhaps the hard drive is bad.

Also, when you say the drive is "not recognized", what do you mean? If it's just not showing up in Windows Explorer, it's possible that the drive does work and just doesn't have a partition that Windows recognizes. Try going to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management, and in there, expand "Storage" and select "Disk Management". If you see that Maxtor drive show up in there, then it's working and just doesn't have partitions that Windows recognizes. In there, you can re-partition and format the drive so that Windows can read it.
