  • Somewhere between BBS & FTP Server

    I am looking for a ftp server that fits these requirements:

    Web interface
    File descriptions
    User Accounts
    Directory permissions

    Any suggestions? I'm already googling for them, I was just currious
    if anyone has had any experience with a particular package.

    Are you wanting a web site for files, or an FTP server? Or a web service for files, that shares data with an FTP server?

    synchronets ftp server does this, right?

    Interesting your response is dated before I posted my message. :o
    (In Thunderbird anyways)

    Anyhow, I guess it would be more of a website for files, no one would
    really be technical enough to use ftp anyways. :)

    Most of the web-based file share type deals I have seen do not let you
    add the extra description, its just the usual ftp server with web interface.

    Synchronet is on my list as a possibility, but I was just checking out everything I could before I set something up.

    synchronets ftp server does this, right?



    Its on my list of possibles. Just wanted to check out as many packages
    as possible.

    The only ones i think that would fit your discription would be wildcat aka winserver or synchronet, or major bbs? or worldgroup i think they call it now if there is more out there that is like synchronet with the options you listed i would like to take a look at them myself is they run on a windows platform

    I'm talking about Apache based Ajax PHP whatever also, not just bbs
    software.
