I finally replaced my PSC 1210 by HP for a Cannon Pixma MP560.

However I am wondering if there is a market for giving away my old printer for free or should I just send it to recycling.

Maybe someone in here will want it? If not, you can always give it away on Craigslist, or some such place. If that doesn't work out, recycling it shouldn't be a problem, since HP covers everything, as far as I'm aware.

Each time I wanted to recycle some HP products, I filled out the online form, got the packing material and the postage sticker, and I just sent it away.

The best thing would to take it to a thrift store, or if there is a used Computer store. I live in a city in Montana, where the there is such a store and it works really nicely, they sell old computer that work, but also, they will pull the ones that don't and sell the parts for those that need older parts.

So, see if there is a used computer store, and if not, give to the local
    thrift store...

That's a good idea. Many times I've wanted some old hardware to revive an old system, and gone to my local Goodwill. They have one store that has a computer section, and has many shelves of just about anything you want, from 14.4 external modems to internal ethernet cards. They usually take old printers, scanners, just about anything you're willing to give away. If I ever need a nic, I can get one from them for three bucks. Printers usually go for ten or fifteen. Monitors for twenty. Nice deal for people strapped for cash.

Most cities have donation centers for computers and parts for libraries, churches and schools. They can always use working componets

When I lived in Beaverton, OR, I used to go to the goodwill there, they
had a big store, and several rows of electronics, used to get all kinds of stuff I needed. Just a couple years ago, I went to one here and found a
like new keyboard/mouse set, all wireless, and yes it all worked. I new it wasn't very old being it had the new keys on it for Vista. I paid $25 for it then a couple months later found it in the store new for $99. Never know
what your going to find. Anyway, have a good one.

Not always, but it's always something to look into.

If you was in my city, I'd just have you bring it to me, I can always
use a new pc to either put to work or find a home for the parts.
I'm pretty good in helping people I know with there computers, keep
    them working, etc.
