Not sure if anyone would have run across this or not but..
You have a computer that can use DDR400 or DDR266 memory.
(What's that PC3200 and PC 2100 I believe?)
Anyways, the motherboard auto detects the memory chip and
adjusts the multiplier to run the memory at 800 mHz.
Is there any reason to believe that running the slower memory
would make the processor run hotter ? Is it working harder
to multiply the slower memory up to speed ?
Benchmarking the computer with both types shows the slower
RAM is actually a little slower but not enough to worry about
but some of the things I do on the system come very close to
overheating the processor so I wondered if swapping the memory
out to faster stuff might help...
