• Chinese laptop battery

Recently, I decided to buy an extended battery for my laptop so I can go longer before charging it (it's a high-performance laptop, and the battery it came with only lasts about 90-120 minutes). I was looking online to buy a laptop battery, to find that many places were selling one for about $150-$200 or more. I thought that was fairly expensive, so I kept looking and found a place that was selling one for about $85 (around $93 with shipping) and bought one from them. The thing is, it came from China, and the battery doesn't have a brand written on it. I'm wondering if it may be a lower-quality knockoff that might not actually last as long as a more expensive battery. Has anyone had experience buying these cheap laptop batteries vs. the more expensive "official" batteries?

Some are good some aren't and it's hard to tell the difference up front. Basically, if the rating is correct, it'll be fine but if they're lying about it or you don't read it, you're screwed.

If you order from eBay, and the goods aren't as described, you can return it very easily.

So far, this laptop battery seems to be fine, and it looks like it does indeed provide more operating time than the original battery. I wonder if it provides as much running time as an "official" battery would, though - but I'd think a 7200mAh rating should mean the same running time, no matter who makes the battery..

Yeah, I've had to return a couple items bought on eBay before, and the process works fairly well, thankfully.

Yeah... the problem is when they're labeled incorrectly. I've seen it with camera batteries, but the only way to know is to either test it or take it apart and look at the cells that were used.

I recently heard a report in the news about that, with camera batteries. And I didn't hear that until after I had bought this laptop battery. :P But based on what Windows says, this battery does seem like it should last longer (and it is bigger, too).
