• Odd monitor resolution issue

I've noticed something strange with my PC monitor recently. This monitor is a flat-panel monitor that has a native resolution of 1920x1080. When it's connected via DVI, the picture is fine, but when it's connected via HDMI, the 1920x1080 resolution works, but the picture is a little too big to fit on the screen, and I have to decrease the resolution a bit in order for the whole picture to fit on the screen. Why might that be? Shouldn't a screen resolution work the same whether it's connected via DVI or HDMI? I had assumed the video information was the same for both DVI and HDMI.

Does the monitor have a "AUTO" button? This will usually reset the picture
    onto the screen size automatically.

But you are right, the connection type should not matter.
