• Cell phone antennas

From Nightfox to All on Mon Jul 18 18:43:23 2011
Recently, my work moved us to a different office, and my cell phone doesn't get any signal in most of the new building.. Recently I bought a new cell phone (not really related to that issue), and I've noticed that this new phone has what looks like an antenna port in the battery compartment near the battery. I'm wondering if I might be able to buy some kind of antenna that would fit in there and help increase the phone's signal strength. I'm just not sure if I'd be able to find an antenna that would work, because the port is right under the battery cover, so there isn't much room in there. This is a picture I took of the phone with the battery cover off, with a red square around the port: http://home.comcast.net/~nightfox/LG_Optimus_V_Back.jpg
Does anyone know if that really is an antenna port, and if so, if there's anything that might fit there that could help increase the phone's reception?

Its not an antenna port. If it accepted an external antenna, it would have an external antenna port. That port is used like a jtag port to flash the phone and give it its initial programming at verizon...

I guess I don't know what an external antenna port looks like then..

Ah, interesting.. I'm not sure if Verizon offers this phone though - My service is with Virgin Mobile.

How big is your office? How many people work there? Do many of them have corporately issued phones? If so, you may be able to convince the cell provider to put a cell repeater inside the office, or another tower closer to the office.
