I saw that Apple has released OS X Lion, the new version of their OS. They say it's only available as a web download though, and you need to have Snow Leopard installed in order to install Lion..?? I am a little confused - It sounds like there is no way to do a stand-alone fresh install of Lion, and they aren't selling install DVDs with Lion. Does anyone have more info abou this?
What if you are running OS X Tiger and want to upgrade to Lion? Do you have to buy Snow Leopard, install that, and then download & install Lion?
floating around the internet.. I think Apple came in later in the day and agreed it was possible. If you want to upgrade though from prior to Snow Leopard, then you first have to upgrade to Snow Leopard and then make the ho to Lion.. :-(
Here's the link to make your bootable Lion disk:

We tried this yesterday on an older model Mac Mini at work and it functioned published..
I'm baffled about why Apple would do this. I thought Apple was always all for making things easy and simple, so this move is fairly strange.Yeah right... They're all about Money!

This doesn't make much sense, and I imagine it would irritate a lot of Mac users. Requiring a previous version of the OS in order to install the new one
also seems Microsoft-ish to me.. I never expected to see that from Apple.
