• InstallShield apps taking forever to install

From Nightfox to All on Sat Jul 23 20:07:26 2011
Recently I built a new PC, and as I've been installing software on it, I've noticed that some software takes forever to install and/or un-install (i.e., Nero 10 and LightScribe system software took a very long time). The common thing between these apps is that they may all be using InstallShield, but I'm not sure. Has anyone experienced this and found a way to fix it?

I've re-installed Windows fresh and installed my apps, and so far things are working fine. The thing I haven't done so far is to run Windows Update, which leads me to believe that some Windows fix/patch messed things up, which seems a bit odd to me..

Yep. There's a definite fix by not running Windows. :)

Really? Several years ago there as an update that crashed a good percentage
of systems. If I remember right, you couldn't even get to the desktop!

    I suppose that's possible. :)

Not sure what you are referring to, but there was an issue about a year ago where if you ran the update, and a certain rootkit was on your system, the updated windows wouldn't boot...

IMHO not really such a bad thing getting rooted systems off the internet. lol.
