A friend of mine has a Fujitsu 17" Notebook computer and it recently

What happens when you press around the edges where the white band is located?

He carries it in a sponge lined aluminum case so one would think it's
well protected. If the area were just blank I could see damaged connection problems and such more easily but when the screen info is there and just
super bright or washed out.. it seems harder to figure the cause..
