  • Does Sexpots work with AX

    Hi ALL,

    Just a quick question

    Anyone know if Sexpots would work with a TNC (Terminal Node Controller) in KISS mode on AX25??

    I was looking to add a radio port to the BBS?
    I know this would only be a 1200 baud connection...

    No idea here how that works, as I haven't touched SEXPOTS, but for me, the curiousity would be if sexpots would support sending the client's key/handle
    to the bbs... then you could tie it in rlogin style to the bbs node.. where
    the user is their ham handle... a buddy of min was N1LID for a while, but nobody believed him.. not sure what he changed it to.

    Not sure, but would be cool to see, also, given that you should be getting the callsign of the dialer, you could probably auto-login as that call sign... since any login would be open over the air anyway.

    I don't know about SEXPOTS, but you can configure Synchronet to support AX.25 connections directly following this tutorial:

    I know this is an old message and I didn't see an answer. eChicken wrote
    an addition to the Synchronet software just for that. I believe if you
    ask this question in the Synchronet Sysop area or Synchronet discussion area you can get more difinitive answers.

    Look into the cvs.synchro.net. I don't have Internet where I am located
    (I am on the "fireline" in central California.) so I can't look into it
    at present. Look in the ../exec directory for ax25call, ax25shell, etc.
    At my suggestion, he even included a "bad words" filter so any word or
    portion of words that shouldn't be transmitted over the air. If I
    recall, the software also changes the MYCALL to the current user's
    call sign.

    I haven't set it up yet as I also have a packet BBS running JNOS/Linux.
