• Problem with Ansi

From Operations@VERT/SECTONE to All on Mon Nov 2 12:05:53 2015
    Hello all,
I'm installing some of the Sunrise Doors on my BBS. When I go into two of
the config programs, I cannot see the ANSI screens, but just the code. This
is not the same with other of their doors config files.

I have ANSI.SYS loaded in my NTconfig and the board is drawing everything right.

    Any ideas.

    Hawk

Lost in Space and Quest for Nora. I was able to make a cfg file for QFN so it's no biggie. but I cannot run LIS because the cfg file isn't right. but
I cannot make a proper CFG file without the config program

Sorry, but I don't know how to attach the screen shot.

Okay, here is the scoop guys. I fixed the ansi problem. The directions I
had was to load ansi sys in config.nt file by adding device=c:\winnt\system32\ansi.sys or whatever. But it was windows xp so it needed to be c:\windows\system32 and so on.

That worked. I was able to run all the config files and see things properly. It never seemed to effect the BBS with ansi.sys not being loaded.

But now I have a new problem. with ansi.sys loaded my editor don't work on
the BBS. I was trying to reply to you guys and all I get is a blank screen.

I had to take out the ansi.sys line to keep it from loading to be able to
type this message and then, as you see, it worked fine.

    Any ideas for this one?

    thanks in advance

What editor are you using? The default (stock install) message editor these days is fseditor.js, which shouldn't be affected by any console driver installed or not on the BBS system. So I'm guessing you installed an older version of Synchronet and are using a DOS-based editor, maybe fsedit.exe or WWIVedit, something like that? You could switch to fseditor.js (http://wiki.synchro.net/module:fseditor) or SlyEdit (another JS editor), but that won't fix the problem with intercepted standard I/O from *other* programs (maybe 16-bit doorgames). See http://wiki.synchro.net/faq:win#ansisys for the explanation of this known issue with the Windows ansi.sys console driver.
