From Mojo@VERT/MOJO to All on Thu May 26 16:58:49 2016
Is there any updates or anything being done for the mail tosser FMail anymore?

I have tried to find the web site that use to be out there that the author had but it seems to have been taken down. I am looking into using this wiht a old bbs package and am wondering if the older registered version I have will run in a window enviroment or not. At this time I have version 1.22 and is a DOS version.. Is it still available to be registered now or has that gone away also?

    Thanks
    Mojo

Yes, Wilfred Van Velzen is maintaining/supporting FMail now. I don't remember off hand where it is but I think it's sourceforge.net. He has a win32 version now although the old dos versions will probably still work if your OS supports 16bit apps.

It's been a while now. There is no support for FMail.

I even tried to use it when I ported my system to Mystic, but the lack of
support forced me to move into other system.

Last I heard (about a month or two ago) FMail is now opensource. There
are still a few systems on Fidonet that use it to this day.

Well that is good to hear that there are some out there still using it. I hope to use it again myself as it is what I used before back in the day before the internet came along.

Well there was two sysops out there running TAG for a while but one has change to a different software and the other one it is still there but I can no longer connect to it as it just comes up busy all the time when I try to connect to it. So if all goes well I hope to have it up and running soon. I am just trying to get past a problem of uploads and downloads with it I am not able to get that working right now. I know it will work as the one bbs running TAG that I cna connect to had it working but I am not able to find out how this sysop got it to owrk. He just said use BNU or something along that line but said nothing more. So I am still trying to figure this part out. Since I have to use netfoss and net2bbs as part of what makes it possible to get it back online.

They are probably use CEXYZ or FDSZ, which work with FOSSIL drivers.

These are basically protocol drivers like DSZ and GSZ, but unlike
those two, FDSZ and CEXYZ were made to run with FOSSIL drivers.

So then to make sure I understand I would just need to have this loaded all the time so it would work? I am running Netfoss & Net2bbs so that the telnet part will work.

    Thanks

As with other protolv drivers (such a SEXYZ.EXE that comes with
Synchronet), the programs are only called when needed (ie when a
file transfer is initiated) and do not reside in memory full
    time.
