    Hello,

I've seen other posts from folks utilizing VPS services
and was wondering what others mainly use them for as
I'm trying to get an idea what to do with mine.
I just subscribed to a free year on Amazon's AWS,
which includes on the free tier 350 hours per month
of a running GNU/Linux or Windows instance. Curious,
I did a speedtest on an instance and got 600/400 Mbps,
a hefty improvement over my home 300/30.
It would be nice to put my Plex stuff on there, but thats
not feasible on the free tier. Just curious what other
    folks do with theirs.

    Have a good day,
    -Misfit

My VPS runs quite a lot - a 10 channel IRLP reflector, with 3 Echolink capable channels, 3 D-STAR reflectors, basic web server, can't recall what else. :-)

I have a windows machine on AWS that hosts my Tradewars Game Server. I long
ago used up my "free tier" stuff, but the same level runs me about $20 a
    month.

My BBS runs off a $40 Linode (www.linode.com) as does a server that handles
    all my e-mail and websites.

I have another dozen or so boxes between Linode and Digital Ocean for my
    business.

You can get a 1-cpu, 512MB VM with 20GB SSD storage and 1TB of transfer for
$5 a month on Digital Ocean.

Cool, thanks for the tip on Digital Ocean. I will definetly check them out, especially after my year with Amazon AWS draws to a close.

You can also head over to webhostingtalk.com and check out the deals being offered
there. Not only that, but reviews on different VPS providers too! My BBS runs off a
$2/month 1GB RAM, 100GB disk space, Linux VPS. My Windows 2008 32-bit VPS is 1.5GB,
20GB SSD, and 1TB bandwidth for $10.99/month. I've been with both hosts now for a
couple of years, and I can say I'm happy with them. :)
