I'd be a happy boy if there continued to be more and more ARM
architecture desktop OS softwares and distros.

Lenovo recently announced a 5G connected ARM based laptop. It'll be running Windows 10:

    https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/ideapad-flex-series/Lenovo-Flex-5 G-14Q8CX05/p/88LGF801419

Looks like it's going to be fairly pricy at about US$1500 based on this
    review video:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDKnWw5CEZs

I'm still surprised there isn't a stable full Windows 10 build for the Pi as of yet.

I remember seeing something about Win10 on an ARM sbc. IIRC it was very barebones, set up to run an app or two and select processes.

I haven't seen Windows 10 for ARM myself. But I imagine they may get it to more of a fully working state at some point.

From what I recall breading about it, it was a stripped down version for industrial or IoT stuff. Instead of a full desktop, it would be more of a simplified GUI and only the services needed to perform it's designated task. For example, a touch panel controlling a climate control system or an ATM machine could run off an ARM system and not need all the services neded for
a desktop system or server to function.

Interesting.. I've heard about devices like Microsoft's Surface Pro X, which sounds like it's aimed at consumers and has Windows 10 for ARM with a regular desktop:

Yup, so Windows 10 on ARM is a thing: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/arm/
In theory, Synchronet would even run (on an emulated 32-bit x86 processor, apparently) - maybe even 16-bit DOS doors!

I so want a Raspberry Pi Windows 10 IoT running a stripped down GUI
with just Synchronet now. Just 'cuz.

A hell of a lot cheaper to run a rPi than an Intel NUC, although some
of the NUCs are pretty beefy - Celeron processors, SATA connectors,
    regular SIMM slots...

I'm not sure about running DOS doors on a Raspberry Pi though..

I've been using my BBS machine for other stuff too (such as a Plex media server), so I'd want something that's enough for the things I'm using it for. My current BBS machine is a bit old now but still seems to be okay for what I'm using it for.

There are both actually... IoT builds for embedded device development as
well as full desktop builds for ARM64 (Including RPi devices, though
wired ethernet and audio don't work).

Wonder what it would take to get a Windows ARM64 build working.
Apparently WSL2 is supposed to work, so that may be an option as well,
though would need a windows service to start the container, and iirc
would mean auto-login would be needed.

With a little work, it should be possible... no idea how well it would
work, and the SynchroNet Gui for windows may be a non-starter for an
    ARM64 build.

I don't play doors, so hard to comment on this one... but can't help but
think that the dedicated multi-bbs door servers might be a better way to
go, with local messages if you're wanting to run on an RPi anyway.
