Got weird vibes there. This guy called Rick C Hodgin.
Should I tell the funny story?

Oh yes ! please please, do tell !
/me sitting anxiously on the edge of his seat !
The thing that interested me was figuring out if this guy was a in a cult. The guy that emailed me and advised me to not get involved with him said that he would't accept me as a Christian either cause I am not fitting or something. HHe said that Rick is also the head of this cult (most likely, this is all just aassumptions - which I don't doubt).
The cult part might not be true but the madness of his religious
"outbursts" is definately weird, I am a Christian (Catholic) myself and
this shit is weird.
Check him out. comp.lang.c++

That you would find all this in a C++ forum is fascinating. That's quite a story. I will definitely worth a visit.

this story made me want to check him out, I don't know what his "cult" following is, but he seems to be a very good activist when it comes to computer privacy, was part of EFF, founding member I would presume, and is still very active. he does seem to come on very strong with his opinions on his website, but who does'nt. I did'nt see anything at all religios on his website. just all "freedom" related.

I guess his religion is his business if he doesn't force it on others. For what you say, for the rest is intentions look good.

Try using news.aioe.org. It's anonymous NNTP and has way less spam than eternal-september (more like eternal spam).

Kind of fitting, considering the term "Eternal September" was coined by people fearing that AOL and other easy-to-use ISPs would create a wave of spam, trolling, and flame warring since users out of academia and the government would no longer be the majority. (AOL gave extensive Usenet service to its users in September 1993.)
