I prefer flight sims where the other planes shoot back. :) I've been
playing War Thunder the past few years.

:) I haven't played an air fighting game in a long time.. One thing I like about a flight simulator (and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 in particular) is being able to virtually see different parts of the world. Microsoft Flight Simulator is unique in that it uses Bing Maps data to reproduce scenery (including land scenery and buildings) for the whole world. It's not 100% accurate, but it's still pretty cool.

i heard the recent flight sim actually uses real weather and real air traffic

Does anyone here like flight simulators? Has anyone here tried Microsoft's new Flight Simulator 2020? I bought it when it came out. I've seen some

I've been playing with Flight Simulator since FS4, on a 386 if I remember correctly.

I'd give FS2020 a try but seems like you really need a good setup to have it run smoothly. Not ready to drop a few hundred dollars on a new graphics card...

Apparently you can use it with Vatsim and talk to real people who'll do air traffic control for you. Never tried it. I believe this has been available in previous versions of Flight Simulator as well.

The graphics look phenomenal though. Not sure about the realism though. Seems pretty realistic to me!

Yeah, you need a good PC.. Also I've heard it's more CPU-bound right now, so it's good to have a powerful multi-core CPU for it as well.

I've heard that about FS2020. I hadn't heard about Vatsim until recently, but it sounds interesting.

I'm more of a casual flyer. So far I've been enjoying flying planes with it while viewing the external views so I can look mainly at the scenery. I've seen some people say they think X-Plane 11 has more realistic flight.

Just curious... Are you running it on a 4k monitor?

it while viewing the external views so I can look mainly at the scenery.

I've seen people with a thing on their head which tracks the movements and moves the camera along. From what I hear it seems to work well. Probably beats hitting the keyboard to change views everytime.

For the time being guess I'll stick to watching Youtube videos but it's probably just a matter of time before I join the club. :)

A VR headset? I've heard Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is supposed to support VR at some point, but I don't think it does yet.

Not quite... It's purpose is only to track your head movement. If you Google TrackIR you'll see what I mean. Probably a much cheaper alternative than going with a full-blown VR headset.

What's the point of that? If you move your head to look away from the PC monitor, you won't be able see what's on the monitor..

That's exactly what I was thinking too, until I actually saw a video of it being used. It's not as bad as you think, and I'd even go as far as saying that it looks convenient and seems to work well. :)
