    Hello All!

I just finished watching S1E1 of Carnival Row.

I'm impressed with the smooth CGI that they managed to pull off.

The casting is pretty good. Orlando Bloom's fame doesn't get in
    the way.

The floating sex scene is practically identical to the one in
Expanse S1E1. They must have borrowed the same harnesses. ;)

    Update..

    I'm starting E5, next.

I am getting invested in the characters and the underlying
    subplots.

Carnival Row is a world of mythical fae(ries) and monsters set
in a kind of Victorian era steampunk world amongst the humans.
The mood, darkness and action is pretty good actually.

E1 starts off with a fairly dramatic chase scene. Although the
fae(ries) play a prominent role and their ability to fly around
is useful in many respects, it's not the sole special effect -
and it's used quite sparingly so as not to detract from the true
    storyline.

E4 revealed the "players" involved in a subplot. How that one
will or will not be related to the whole is yet unknown. But the
pace of the reveal sofar was good timing.

Carnival Row is definately not for the kiddies primarily for the
interplay of sex every once in a while, but even the sex seems
to be relevant in this one.

I started watching this show shortly after it premiered. It did seem pretty good, but then my ADD kicked in and I got distracted by something else and just have not gotten back to it.

How far into the series did you get?

Don't blame you for getting distracted. There is the odd long
and broody scene, but most of it is attention-grabbing for me.

I think it has a very nice mix of mystery, fantasy and
otherworldliness. I just have one more episode to watch for the
end of S1. I've heard that S2 is in the works.

Near the end, they start experimenting with the idea of sex
between human and non-human. That can get a tad creepy. But the
whole story seems to be a kind of allegory of multiculturalism.

It is a completely original world where they invented new racial
    slurs.

I think I got about half way through season 1. It's been a long time so not really sure.

The last episode wraps up the primary mystery quite well, and
can be enjoyed as a complete story. Then there are a couple of
side-stories that have opportunity to progress in season 2.
