Wasn't "Never Say Never Again" with Kim Bassinger NOT on MGM/UA? Maybe it was done in another studio eventually bought out by them, that I don't know.

When Daniel Craig took over as Bond, I stopped watching them. He just doesn't cut it for me as Bond... then again no one can replace Connery as Bond. My favorite line by him was in Diamonds Are Forever when Jill St. John changes wigs and she asks if he approves and he says "As long as the collar and
    cuffs match..." <G>

Never Say Never Again was not done by Metro. That is the reason it does nto feature the characteristic intro in which you see Bond walking from the point of view of a gun barrel.

I also disliked the Craig Bond films, not because of Daniel Craig specifically, but because the plots were not up to the standard. Also one of the films featured Javier Bardem, who has never done a good film to my knowledge.

I thought it was Sony. NSNA was an oddball contractual loophole, which is
why they had Sean Connery back again. I liked that film.

Right, which is why I thought it wasn't an MGM flick. Wasn't it Paramount?

I liked Craig in the Lara Croft movie and a few others he's done, just not Bond. It even took me a bit to accept Judy Dench as the new "M". I'll always miss Desmond as Q! John Cleese doesn't cut it either.

I like John Cleese enough, but Desmond set the bar too high for him to match.

I think Judy made a more memorable M than her predecesors, personally. She was this relentless bitch that reminds me of HP's director of Human Resources. The other Ms were classy and all but felt a lot like Mr. Here is Your Mission Now Go.

Sony/Paramount/CBS all under the same umbrella. I agree it was a decent film.

Cleese doesn't have the same chemistry with Bond as Des did.

That's the whole thing with the older M's... "Bond go get him and don't screw this one up this time!". Sort of comical in nature.
