Will Smith hits Chris Rock on stage, then wins an Oscar.
    that was a CNN headline.

I find it strange that Will Smith was seen clearly laughing at the GI Jane joke, then he storms the stage and slaps Chris Rock.
I think Chris was the bigger man here in the way he handled being bitch slapped.

I like some of his movies like MIB, he is a good actor, Clearly he is controlled by his wife.
I wondwr if he'll be man enough to appologize Chris Rock.

i'm talking about this on irc now.

    this is what i think.

they were put in front. other comics were ripping on them

jada knew the joke was coming.
chris rock was fed the joke. he though something was going to happen like a fake out where will smith runs up and just hugs him or something.

    chris is somewhat surprised because
will smith gets all pissed and does the slap and the swearing.

then pizer is doing the alopecia shit. media is working that angle.
chris rock sits back and shuts up. his tickets went from 40 bucks to 350.. this is is a fact.
this was some weird setup to make will smith freak out for profit.

i just saw that will smith refused to leave when told to leave the award show. they are doing starting some precedings against him in the academy. they say they wont take away his award but they can stop him from going to the awards shows or kick him out of the academy.

also chris rock doesn't have to press charges. the district attorney can press charges anyways. maybe it would be good if he got probation and got anger managment courses

Someone found a clip of Will Smith heckling a band member on a late night
show because of his bald head, then adding "Hey, it's a joke!"

He wasn't pissed until his wife was put out by the joke, then he overcompensated, that's my theory.

I think Chris was the bigger man here in the way he handled being

If he were a couple of years younger, and in a comedy club I think he would have followed the "keep my wife's name out of your f*cking mouth!" with a massive burn, following with a quick dash off-stage.

That was too much of a set-up to leave on the table.

I am playing both sides of this. Chris Rock definitely went too far and do we really need to have more comedians hosting these shows? Will Smith was laughing until he saw his wife scowl; that's when he reacted. I feel that if she never did anything, he would've just left it. It would've been better if he would've just yelled something at Chris instead of gone up on stage and slapped him. Assault doesn't look good and even if Chris doesn't request charges to be made against Will, ultimately, the court of public opinion has already been made.

Jada's alopecia was public knowledge and made it through the tabloids, etc. Yes, I fully agree, she looks great bald. Yet, some women, especially those sensitive about hairloss, will immediately go on the defensive about it. I think the audience, as a whole, knew about her hairloss but I feel that, once again, knowing your audience (Chris Rock) and timing (Oscars) is critical for comedic delivery.

When I was younger, I'd watch them with my parents or grandmother. As I got older, I would only turn them on if there was nothing else to watch or do. I lost all interest in the Oscar's when Training Day won for Best Picture and Halle Berry won for Best Actress (Monster's Ball), both in 2001. Although I fear I'm going to get grief for this, Training Day should've never won, there were much better pictures out that year and Halle Berry sucks as an actress (maybe she won because she fucked Billy Bob Thorton and everyone felt bad for her).

I was being sarcastic. I do not approve of violence. having said so, others do approve and practice such. I grew up in a time where making fun of
another kid's haircut or appearance could result in a punch in the face.
One of my teachers in high school told me a story of when he was young, his fa mily lived near a large Amish population. He and some friends were outside a store, and one of his friends made fun of an Amish boy's haircut. The Amish boy looked around, and upon seeing no other Amish around, he knocked his
buddy out in one punch. Just because their faith abhor's violence, not everyone is completely vested in that belief.
