Hello All,
I have a problem with Allfix. Ik has been running stable for decades
under Win 95, Win XP and now Win 8, but all of a sudden it keeps
crashing when called from the batch file that handles incoming mail.
On the screen there is this message:
D:\fido\ALLFIX>allfix mgr
LSxPower Error lsx1510: Internal Exception (LSXPOWER.DMP created)
D:\FIDO\ALLFIX\ALLFIX.EXE has been stopped
Nothing at all is written to the log, the message appears only on the screen.
I am running this version:
ALLFIX Universal, v5.13.004 ù fileecho processor ù 22-May-99 09:43
Anyone seen this before?
Cheers, Michiel
Only thing I can think of is - have you had any system updates and yes that includes windows even allowing for the fact that MS support for
v8 ended some years ago.
Suggest you check the system update logs for any such.

I see no traces of any WIN 8 updates.

Anyway, it seems I am not using the latest version of allfix. Mine still uses a
key and it is a 16 bit version.
Rumour has it that a 32 bit keyless version is available. So if you
could point me to where I can get that version, I may give it a try.
I am running this version:
ALLFIX Universal, v5.13.004 █ fileecho processor █ 22-May-99
09:43
Did you try the DOS executable instead or Uni?

Yes, I tried the DOS executable. I won't run here because my key is invalid for that version.
I see. I have keys for all five.. :D

Check your inbound for AFXGB610.ZIP.
www.allfix.com seems down. I should have the version 6 and 7 archives somewhere... Hold on...
www.allfix.com seems down.
allfix.com is still owned by Bob Seaborn's son, his intensions with it are unclear. But he's not doing anything with it. The domain is still registered
(until 2026-02-24T05:00:00Z), but there are no dns records for it.
Ken moved the website to https://allfix.app/ (has been mentioned in this area a
couple of years ago). All released versions can be downloaded from this website.

Nice.
But still no 'free' version of Universal or Windows version at all. The real
development stopped 25 years ago when Harald Harms left. :(

Ken said he is still working on a Linux version, but most of his time
is spend on his real Job.
Bob Seaborn, the owner between Harald and Ken, didn't want it open
sourced. Maybe Ken will change his mind now, about this...?

It happens. ;) Let's wait for another 15 years. ;)

Maybe, there would be a nice job for you then. :)
Check your inbound for AFXGB610.ZIP.
It landed in my unsecure inbound...
OK. tnx, I will take a look at it later.

It didn't work for me. Asetup asks for permission to make changes to the system. Allfix file hangs up and after a forced exit, asetup won't run again.
I gave up.

Funny, it runs fine in a Win7 32bit VM here...

My knowledge of Pascal is very minimal... ;-/

Could this be an issue:

And maybe you patched your version or installed some kind of workaround
on your system, and forgot about it? ;-)

Ok then, how about adding file processing support to FMail? ;D

Nah, it's better to keep these functions in seperate programs. In the linux spirit of things...

How about the pioneer spirit thing that some dutch guy was talking
about once?

Maybe your VM slows down the process to the point where that infamous error 200 no longer is an issue...
Maybe you should UPGRADE that Win8 to Win7. :)
Your wish has majically been granted. I looked again and lo and
behold, I now have Windows 7. ;-)

Of course. However, I like the husky way to have all the configs in one place
where seperate programs can use them.

So it should run.
How about adjusting DOS settings and turning UAC totally off.

workaround on your system, and forgot about it? ;-)
It's unlikely it does that on its own accord...
But there is a software layer between the guest and the host hardware, that might influence this.
