No filming of cabin crew operations without prior consent

At several airlines, passengers are explicitly informed before departure that taking photos and videos of cabin crew is not permitted. At British Airways, travelers who do not comply with this now even risk sanctions.

The airline has included this in its General Terms and Conditions of Carriage. Article 11a states that ôfilming, livestreaming, or photographing cabin crew or other colleagues without their permissionö is not permitted.

In addition, British Airways cabin crew will also explain this rule before departure.

Passengers who nevertheless film the cabin crew, for example during safety demonstrations or incidents on board, risk three possible sanctions according to the Terms and Conditions of Carriage.

For instance, the airline may decide to remove a passenger from the plane. Access to any subsequent leg of the journey may also be denied. Furthermore, there is the possibility that 'the incident will be reported to the competent authorities, with the possibility of prosecution for any criminal offenses a traveler may have committed.'

It happens with some regularity that footage from airplanes appears on social media without any context. This can lead to reputational damage for both the cabin crew and the airline.
