    If you take some of the fringe movements over the past decades.

    Eugenics (Which has always been strange bed fellows with the more radical feminist / misandrist movements) and Planned Parenthood.

    The Nihilists
    Human extinction movements

    Project 25

    etc.

    It isn't too big of a leap to begin to wonder why we need AI, and just how society will deal with the loss of jobs.

    Yeah, when you learn the origin of PP and its ties to Eugenics, they really do seem like strange bed fellows now.

    Voluntary human extinction vs. Project 2025's apparent views on the fall in reproductive rates as being "bad" would seem to contradict, yet I see both of them as being on the wrong side of evil.

    For whatever reason, here this link redirects to an older Independent story from 2020 regarding Coronavirus "Stay at Home" t-shirts. <shrugs>

    It isn't too big of a leap to begin to wonder why we need AI, and just how society will deal with the loss of jobs.


    Yeah, I am not at all sure why we'd all need an AI agent "assistant" if there is nothing left for us to do. If we lose too much farmland to datacenters, there won't be enough people left to need all those datacenters -- their AI agent capacity will be in abundant surplus.

    I am skeptical of why they would want all of us to have our own agent, too. I suspect part of it isn't so much for our benefit but to keep tabs on us. I am not sure what the companies get out of it, besides currying favor with the government.

    I do notice that some of the same tech bros who seem to support movements like Human extinction and other radical environmental movements are also some of the ones that are backing AI, which makes me even more skeptical.

    Well, when THEY manage to kill US off, they will need someone or more likely "something" do replace the work with, since I doublt the chosen elite will want to jump in and actually do the skut work.

    The is kind of the problem with believing you are too good to do the actual labor. You forget that there actually needs people to do it. Hence AI and ROBOTICS.

    I am pretty confident that they will get it wrong and the robots will probably kill them off also. A small consolation but a consolation none the less.
