I was told by e-mail from Bill Swisher that he found on Facebook a notice that our former moderator and host of many Echo Picnics had fallen from his twig. That is sad news indeed.

So sorry to hear this. I was worried about his health when he abruptly announced his recent departure from Fidonet.

No idea. I went looking on-line as I have no contact information since they closed the house in Columbia and moved to Geezer Gardens in
Sliver Spring. Did learn that Dale's actual front name (the "R" in R. Dale) was Robert. And he had a PhD in mathematics from University of Wisconsin.
I imagine that Bryan and his sister are giving their Mom a lot of
support.

We stopped in to see them in Silver Spring a few years ago, nice (but huge!) retirement complex. We've fond memories of staying at the house; they insisted we stop on our way up to or back from NY a number of
times.

support.
Most definatly so. Cathy used to live just a couple of houses up the street when they were in Columbia.

I met her a several of the picnics but I can't recall her face. The
nice Irish lady who also lived nearby keeps popping into my mind.
Bv)= And
I remember Bryan supplying some really great baklava to the next to
last picnic in Columbia.
In other news I've got nine others to sign my petition to have my
friend Les named as Springfield's "First Citizen". We're keeping our fingers
crossed but we're also being realistic about it. The award always
seems to go with the "money" crowd. And whilst Les is not "hurthing"
he's not in the "hire an accountant to minimise my taxes" category.

Hope you have a great trip!
I saw an R-Pod (I know you've upgraded since) in person for the first
time this weekend. One was parked at the end of our row by the field they were having a big family reunion at the park and wanted to camp
close and stayed for a few days after.
Quite roomy inside, much more then I thought by looking online.
I could see using one for travel like you guys did.
We've got more issues with our tin can. We were really hoping to get
next season out of it, but things are breaking fast this year and
Andrea can only fix so much. (My back is out and I've been hobbling around wiht a stick for 7 weeks and no end in sight)
Thanks, some years flew past, others crept but each one has had its
high and low points. We went out to one of our fvorite seafood places
for supper for a quiet celebration.
Made it to the campgroud without incident but when we got to our site
and pulled in, he noticed one tire on the camper worn down to enough
that the belt was showing thru. That got changed before we even set
up camp; now we're set up and spending a quiet afternoon. Out for
supper tonight with some of the other radio folks that checked in
early. The rally officially starts tomorrow.
It's a good size for one or two people, down side is the crawl over
bed. Steve (among other modifications) made the sofa into a pull out
use if he didn't want to do the crawl over.
How's your supply of bubble gum, barb wire, duct tape and bailing
twine? (G)
the 12th vertibrate--explains why I've had back pains the last few
years. I can do so much, then I have to stop for a bit to rest it
before continuing.

Good catch, that would have been horrible to have a blow out on your
way home.

Yes, that's the issue we had with our smaller trailer as well, the
crawl over gets old fast. We have a nice sofa in the living room now
that is normally where Andrea ends up sleeping becuase she likes
watching
TV in bed.

Running out fast! LOL

I'm on week 6 now of not being able to walk or stand very long, it's
not at all fun. I would swear my leg is broken and I'm walking on it based on the sounds it makes.
That sounds nice.It was nice, now we're planning an extended celebration for next
year.
It probably wouldn't have lasted even 10 more miles. Steve got it
replaced yesterday, decided to check the 2 tires that were still
original with the camper purchase last year. Found one starting to
show a bulge so decided to replace both of those tires. Less than
10,000 miles on them so he's going to contact the NTSB about issuing
a recall.
Time to add some super glue to the mix?
And you've not gone to get it checked out yet? The longer you wait,
the worse the damages (to the leg and your pocketbook) are going to
be.

They must have been bad tires, that doesn't seem right at all. Glad
he caught them and you didn't have a bad experience.

If you only knew how true that way.

I called my doctor. First time I got her she said she'd call back and didn;t. Second time I called I left a voice mail, that was 2 weeks
ago.
My normal doc just had a kid, so I'm dealing with her replacment who
is working many clinics at the same time from waht I can figure out.
It's flu season so I really don't want to go to an walk in clinic and
deal with that.
I think it was a bad batch of tires; that's why he wants to contact
the National Transportation Safety Board about a possible recall.

I can understand not wanting to get the flu but you need to get
something done about the leg. Guess that's part of the "fun and joy"
of socialised medicine, glad we don't have to rely on that.

Let us know if he ends up getting them covered.

Yes I'd have left early too! ;)

We have private clinics as well. I just can't afford it, I work for a living so
I don't have any extra money. As it is I have to dip into a line of credit most
months just to keep a roof over our heads.
Sure glad I don't have to rely on only private clinics or I'd have
been dead years ago. LOL
I never spit in your drink, so why do you smoke in my air?
