Nope, I had to rerun a block of updates to try and trace why the program was locking up.

Nope, I had to rerun a block of updates to try and trace why the
program was locking up.
Finally traced to a Rules file for POLITICS that look fairly old and
for some reason program got in a loop when it could not read beyond
the end of file. One problem was the wrong attributes for it but after that was fixed is still carried on looping so have to "assume" that
there was some very bad data in
the
file so deleted it.
Needless to say, now all updates have concluded correctly.
May have to add additional tests after reading a record to cover
possibly security issues and no not had to do that for all other application I have written although the bbs system is run a a high security test level (lot more checks) so that the system is always protected against possible hackers etc. The security is so high it
does not trap ALL possible error codes. Must remember to look into
this closely but not know - I am tired.
and yes this problem had been running a few months - hence the
duplicate runs on updates and even worse then the trace file is over 1
GB - well over takes 30+ minutes to try and read it in to a text
editor.
For reference, during a 24 hour cycle it is below 25K.
