    Geez.

He's trying to clean up the mess you left behind. Instead of bitching at him, try helping out for once. I mean, really: you up and disappear leaving a lot of us in Fidonet in a lurch. Vince stepped in and picked up where you left off. You gave no notice of your disconnection and told only a few people you were coming back (including me) but with no timetable.

So you show back up unannounced and bitch at the people where you left everyone hanging? That's mighty presumptious and arrogant of you but hey, you have a reputation to uphold, right? The great Janis Kracht: in charge of everything...until she isn't.

What the hell is it with the old guard leaving Fidonet, coming back, leaving again and then throwing a temper tantrum when they come back?

    You're embarrassing yourself. Stop it.

    What gives?

I'd talk to your boss node and check to see if the message is in his system. If not, keep working your way up the SEEN-BY chain until you find a system
that does have the original message. I do know you have been having an odd issue with your feed (I've read it over in Vince's admin echo for his region that I'm connected to since he and I have a direct connection for file
    echoes).

I hope this might give you a place to start to figure out what's going on.

i know that more than one of the above systems is multi-linked to this and other areas because of the dupes my tosser records as it processes the mail... my tosser does not place dupes in my local message bases but it does pass them on to linked systems not already listed in the seenbys...

my tosser has not seen any echomail messages with janis in the from field at all in the month of march... not even any seen as dupes based on the MSGID...

    Your system is in there...

Maybe your still in Janis's config and her system added the seen+by for your system, and it is waiting in her outbound to be picked up by your system?

    Bye, Wilfred.

Eh.. Vince, _you_ passworded me out with your mailer, and I could not connect to your mailer to send you any mail regarding what was going on. Until _Dallas_ contacted you about this, that situation remained.

Regardless, Vince, the reason I was a _bit_ upset with the above was since when does a person _have to be in Fidonet_ to moderate a message echo? It has never been the case. _I_ was the elisted Moderator of the RAR echo whether I was in Fidonet or not. _YOU_ removed me as moderator, and just ripped up my passworded elist entry with no warning whatsoever.

The RAR echo was a nice quiet echo where I enjoyed helping out folks that had problems with RAR.

Sorry, you are wrong there - it was NOT a 'hissy fit' "with no warning and no explanation". I contacted as many people as I could to let them know I _had_
to leave because of finances. Then, as it turned out I _didn't_ need to leave so I'm back - aren't you happy...

Ron's job is fine, our $$ is fine and I'm happy to not be involved in as many things as I was (like you care Lol).

Sean was gracious enough to take over the FidoGazette, so everything is cool as far as I'm concerned.

I never abandoned the RAR echo, I was the current elisted moderator until Vince decided _he_ wanted to take it over. As you should know, there is no requirement to be "in" Fidonet to be a moderator.

Authors are still sending me files they would like distributed, so when they do so, I will continue to get them in the various file echos like the PDN and Util*net areas.

Oh, it wasn't that easy. I was accused of stealing the FidoGazette from you and other nasty things. No one believed me that you gave me back the FidoGazette. It was as if I was a ne'er-do-well trying to steal the last piece of cake or something.

involved in as many things as I was (like you care Lol).

    Well that's good.

Sean was gracious enough to take over the FidoGazette, so
everything is cool as far as I'm concerned.

    "s/over/back"

And now you're back, with no explanation as to what went on?
Could *THAT* be the reason that others "took over" stuff you were doing,
    but abandoned? Ya think?

I never abandoned the RAR echo, I was the current elisted
moderator until Vince decided _he_ wanted to take it over. As
you should know, there is no requirement to be "in" Fidonet to be
    a moderator.

It was publicly announced (either by you or those you notified), that
you were leaving Fidonet *permanently*. Why *wouldn't* you be replaced
as a moderator, and any other Fido function, in that case? It's just
    common sense.

Authors are still sending me files they would like distributed,
so when they do so, I will continue to get them in the various
file echos like the PDN and Util*net areas.

    Uh-huh. OK.

I echo what Janis says above. Leaving fidonet as a sysop has nothing to
do with being the moderator of an echo. I was moderator of a major echo
well before I was listed in the nodelist. The moderator of that echo
more recently was never a sysop. He moderated the echo for years before
he died last year. There have always been moderators who were not

    Eh... Really Vince??

Why exactly did you do this?

I swear to god it's like the vultures are f'n loose in fidonet...
    Geez.

From what you told me and others, your were shutting down and some echo's needed renewing.I have NOT changed any passwords just put my name on then to keep all running at least until some elist software changes are made that allows all abandoned or areas not on the list to be created as under the non control of elistmaint. As the software is still in a state of development that
has not taken place but hopefully within 4 weeks..

When you announced your closure we had to do some fast running around that involved some long nights to get things organised without file or echo loss. That involved me making changes to my system which also during that time I removed your system for obvious reasons - you had left the building - Fido...

So you have decided to restart - would have been nice to let us all know instead of your bolsie mail.

I really have better things to do than be forced to take over echo areas to keep them in elist along with all the other stuff I currently have to deal
    with !
