Hey Guys!

What is the correct format for the FDNODE.CTL dial translation of internet to port 60177?

This is a very simple configuration to my boss node. Phone 2:xx/xx IFC129.168.21.3

DIAL
IFC Internet/:60177
END

SIO 1.60d errors "Authoritative host not found received" due to the :60177

Problem is if I remove the colon to Internet/60177 or Internet/ 60177. these dont work either...

Any successful hacks??

Thank you for the fast assist, but still no love. Using FD Terminal, the only way it appears to be working is with a space between the ip address & the destination port. For example:

Using FDTerminal: atdt 192.168.1.1 60177 works
atdt 192.168.1.1:60177 does not work

Phone 2:xxx/xxx 192.168.1.1 60177 - The problem with this is FD doesnt send over the destination port to vmodem! So vmodem connects to the default port of 23.

Anything else (using : or [] ) is presented directly to vmodem, not translated,
which vmodem (v 1.21) responds with a "Authoritative host not found received" NO DIAL TONE.

While I am beginning to conclude this is more of an issue with SIO/VModem not FD, I know this has been solved in the past but cant sem to find the magic answer...

Did you try putting a V instead of # on these? These we set for NetSerial, been years since I had my fdnode.ctl for vmodem.

I changed the # to a V and it doesnt seem to have any effect.

Frontdoor drops the destination port if there is a space between the IPaddr & the port number. vmodem chokes if there is a colon ':' as a seperator.

It doesnt appear to be a solution... at least unknown to me anyway.

Will NetSerial run on Arca Noae? I assumed it wouldnt but that would fix the problem!

COAs:
1. Install ifcico on the primary BBS
2. Install binkd/2 on the point bbs

Hmmm... challenges lead to opportunities.

I didnt se any difference between the two, '#' vs 'V'. Bpoth had the same results.

However, reading through something, the author referred to NetSerial as "Playing with Ports" giving me the Layer 3 solution of just change the freaking
ports! Becuase the primary BBS is in a firewalld dmz, I set the ITN back to the default, configured the port forwarding for external users (should there be
any), and internally connect on port 23.

While this doesnt resolve the question of FD + SIO 1.60d, it fixes my headache & a 30 year old problem! I will keep playing with it to see if there is a way to do it, but for now the packets are flowing!

There is a bit complex way to poll nonstandard port. I did it once by setting an env var:

set fd_joho=fhc.d.defsol.com 2030

And then in fdnode.ctl:

phone 2:20/4609 $[fd_joho]

DIAL
IFC Internet/:60177
END

Please do remember that FD does not support IFC. With SIO you can make ITN and VMP only.

Feel free to try my node at port 32 / ITN. :)

Yes, it defaults to port 23 outbound but it will call out using other destination ports. SIO 1.60d chokes on the ':' seperator between the IPAddr & destination port. BUT, I finally figured it out. If I define the IPAddr port as a macro, inside the runfd1.cmd it works. If I define inside the FDNode.ctl it
fails.
What works is:
RUNFD1.FD
set Boss=V192.168.1.1 60177

FDNODE.CTL
PHONE 2:xxx/xxx $[Boss]

What doesnt work is:
FDNODE.CTL
PHONE 2:xxx/xxx V192.268.1.1 60177

I cant explain it but this is what I tried this morning & its working!

This is what worked for me too, finally...

I had to change the listening port on the primary bbs but have it working now.

Feel free to try my node at port 32 / ITN. :)

YOu are so right. I was had receonfigured mbse tpo accept ITN connections of port 23 & testing to port 60177 to figure out the alternate port
configuration.

I have since reconfigure to the port ITN:60179...
