    Ah ok. The problem with nntp is the lack of easy to obtain free usenet
    clients for Windows. FreeAgent used to be the goto but even that's no
    longer free. Some of the others just plain suck.

    That said, I've been using Claws and quite like it.

    I already use thunderbird for read my networks ftn/qwk over sbbs nntp
    service

    thunderbird has the To field at nntp reply if you use "reply to all"
    feature
    Does it not then both send a post via nntp and an email via smtp?

    Yes and sbbs smtp service resolve the ftn address and sent it as netmail

    True enough. But how does the message get out to people who
    don't know where find out about it? ;)

    Furthermore, the part in Fidonews doesn't really "sell" the
    solution. There is no description of the differences between
    traditional nntp vs JamNNTP. The former (with all messages
    posting to ALL) is worse than what most traditional forums
    offer (that is, sending messages when there is a post addressed
    to a specific person). The latter, is much better in that
    messages appear personalized; that can be a salient feature to
    the participant.
