    Hej Benny!

    is now running ubuntu,

    `Tis a sad day indeed. :::sigh:::

    Looks like it is falling behind from this angle as your tagline claims "Linux/6.18.5-gentoo-dist".

    Hej Benny!

    "Linux/6.18.5-gentoo-dist".
    yes it was not updated

    I have plans to revert back to the 6.12 branch until I regain my confidence ... either that or retire. I see that 6.18 has just been declared the latest longterm branch. Not sure what others are seeing in that branch but it hasn't been very kind to me. :-/

    kernel.org> mainline: 7.0-rc1 2026-02-22

    Not sure what to think about this.

    No ubuntu or gentoo required.
    no winndows vista either :)

    Never was and never will be. I can say the same about any incarnation of windows that ever was, is, or will be.

    danger in rc1, you know how to make it work :)

    Hey Benny!

    while 6.19....

    As we speak;
    <Esc>:read /proc/version
    Linux version 6.12.76 (root@itsii) (gcc (GCC) 15.2.0, GNU ld (GNU Binutils) 2.46.0.20260210) #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Mon Mar 16 00:23:41 UTC 2026

    I decided to stick to the 6.12 branch while I decide whether or not to continue the more experimental ideas. If it ends here for me then I am definetly stuck in a very good place. In fact this build is the best I've ever done.

    problems i have is xfce4 crash on tty changes from graphical ui to text
    mode, crash

    Not good. As far as I know, it isn't likely to be either 6.19 or xorg that is at fault for that. My best guess would be whatever version of systemd you are deploying. From what little I have witnessed thus far there is some bad mojo there and I am currently using systemd-257.8 to build udev.

    danger in rc1, you know how to make it work :)

    Not yet. I still haven't come to terms with the 6.18 or 6.19 branches nevermind 7. Offhand I am guessing I'd first get a 6.18 working before taking the plunge.

    i have ubuntu, just in case

    I have this latest build backed up if I decide to take the plunge in the future. ubuntu doesn't register at all here given it's heritage. I never did like debian since the very start. I believe I have their very first CD somewhere packed away in this mess I call home. I recall finding at least one Y2K buggy package on the very first and last boot of it. Same with redhat as it also used the same source, and they were bragging at the time their supplied software was Y2K bugfree. Tsk, tsk.

    $ systemctl --version
    systemd 259 (259.5-1-arch)

    These are all deployed on my main server from which I write this, as well as in a Virtualbox VM with kde/plasma and wayland installed with it all (for science). Everything seems to be working fine here. So maybe the Arch devs are cleaning things up to make it all work nicely together, or they know something we don't. ;)
