Part of the Driving courses that were offered at my highschool
were crash scenes - only after the fact - and some with pictures
of dead or mamed victims.
We saw the same thing in Driver's Ed back in the day. But "scared straight" doesn't work when you don't understand how they got into that situation in the first place.

Good point. The films were gruesome, but the how-did-that-
happen-exactly could not be appreciated.

In the movies they showed us, it was usually explained away by excessive speed, drinking, or drugs as "how it happened." Cell phones weren't a thing then, but being inattentive was also something that usually got mentioned as a "how it happened."
Should my phone ring while I'm riding (and don't recognise the ring tone) I'll check it later. If its my bosses ring tone I pull off the
road somewhere.
Yes.. they *told* us what lead up to it. But seeing how it may
have happened with a lead-up (in a dramatization, perhaps) could
have helped.
A friend of mine had the ringtone "I'm about to whoop somebody's @$$"
when his boss called. Another friend had "Ding!! Dong!! The Witch Is Dead!!" (from The Wizard Of Oz) when his wife called. <G>
My sister's text alert is "<knock knock knock> Penny! <knock knock
knock> Penny! <knock knock knock> Penny!" from The Big Bang Theory.
:)
I rarely watch that. I saw one episode where Sheldon said that nothing could persuade him to change his mind on a certain thing...until this guy pulled out these 2 huge sparkling green round objects, and Sheldon's eyes got as big as dollars.
