It's been months that it's been offline, maybe a year. For a while
somebody else was hubbing the network, but they decided to stop as there simply was no traffic any more. SciNet is dead and gone.

I would host it if I knew what I was doing. I have a very fast internet connection and a spare PC that could be devoted to the network. I been wanting to also host a few others. If I could just get an easy Mystic install thats already set up as a turn-key host. I would be set.

I wouldn't bother. I tried to keep it alive by posting a thread and it
fizzled out within a couple of days with only a couple of people
responding. Let it die in peace.

Well..... honestly I don't think we need any more dead networks. That's why SciNet went away, just no interest/traffic. There are already plenty of other similar networks that are on "life support" at best...

I can't speak for others but to me Scinet was Netsurge/Frank's net... without him its not the same.

Eventually most Othernets ends up with the same people, so the same convo, same noise-factor, there just isn't really an incentive to have most of them anymore.

Unfortunately, Fidonet often falls under the same category.

The second host, Deon, has not actually taken it down. There are still a
few systems getting a feed from him, including me, but the traffic is no
where near where it used to be. I think Deon is using it as a testbed for something, so it is still up.

Unless you are just aching to get it reconnected, I would treat it as dying
    and maybe not worth it.

Like I said, I tried to keep things alive. I made quite a post with
several talking points. It died after a few days. There's really no
point in trying to keep a network alive that nobody wants to
    participate in.
