Yes, absolutely! :-)

Good, just checking. I am setting up a new point and we are trying to get a secure connection between my binkd and his (I think) Winpoint.

define 'secure' ;)
"grep CRYPT" doesn't return a match on the Winpoint files.

I'm not sure that CRYPT is all that secure either, but I guess it is better than nothing.
If we can authenticate with a password, hopefully a
CRAM-MD5 handshake that will do.
Winpoint is being updated I think, so there is hope that winpoints shortcomings (if any) can be improved upon.

Where can I find the sources?
It obfuscates most of the data stream. I doubt that any agency is automatically decrypting binkp data that's on the wire. Biggest disadvantage with CRYPT is that it requires a shared password.

It has lots of issues that need fixing :((
Having said that though, it's quite usable :)

Where can I find the sources?
I don't know if the source is or will be available. It never was in the past. Dale Barnes is the one who is doing the update and I don't know if it will be open or closed source.

It is a worthwhile project.
Test crash netmail fired off to your system at 11:03(UTC) today, so that you can see for yourself :)
WinPoint was originally shareware and I still have my licence key for it. However, at some point in time, the original author decided to release it as freeware so who knows what the future holds.
Even though I don't use it as my Point software of choice, I've always had a bit of a "soft spot" for it from the very first day I came across it.

Got it and replied, thanks.

Yep, I am hoping for success, however Dale decides to release it.

I'm not at all sure if Dale has actually taken over WinPoint development, last I heard was that he was working *with* Tim(the original author).
A quick question about Winpoints mailer, does it support
binkp?
Ttyl :-),
Al
Yes it supports dialup and BinkP. Just Remember, it is a point system, not a full mailer like DBridge, FrontDoor, InterMail etc. Just a windows 32 bit (at this time) GUI point system.
..I have a point setup here that is trying to connect with
Winpoint. He is getting it setup in his spare time and we
will get that done. I think the German interface might be
causing him trouble.
A fido node might be able to get setup knowing what needs
to be entered in there but it may not be easy for a user to
get that setup.
If you have a way to reach him, let him know that the Quick-
Start guide availble here: https://stargate.org.uk/winpoint/
would probably solve his concerns. All he has to do is follow
the steps in order, and all should work after that.

There will be a Linux version? ;)

Anything is possible. Right now just getting the code and components updated and streamlined a bit so I can get 32 bit and 64 bit going.
