    Agreed, but what would cause someone to believe in socialism? Especially when there are countless examples and references on the internet with first hand experiences of people from around the world who have suffered tragically and horribly.

    People who are benefiting from a system that allows them to benefit without effort probably have a different view that those who suffer. As long as
    they are benefiting, they are probably willing to ignore the reality.

    That's a complex question.

    Is it brainwashing from an early age? Being trained to not question and only be told what to do/think?

    Or is it because he knows that he's worthless and in a capitalistic society that values merit, he can't rise to the level he wants to believe he's at. So he accepts the BS from the socialists and willfully ignores the facts?
