Areas affected...Northern Colorado to far southwest Nebraska

    Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 528...

    Valid 282035Z - 282230Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 528
    continues.

SUMMARY...Large hail remains the primary severe threat across the
Front Range and into far southwest Nebraska. However, a transition
to predominantly severe wind is expected through the evening hours.

DISCUSSION...Latest regional radar imagery and MRMS VII imagery
continues to show robust updraft development both along the higher
terrain and along subtle low-level confluence axes. Velocity data
also depicts rapid outflow development with cells across the High
Plains with new updraft development noted along outflow collisions.
New cell development will continue along these boundaries for the
next hour or two with an attendant threat for large hail. With time,
continued outflow expansion will promote thunderstorm clustering and
upscale growth - most likely between the I-70 to I-76 corridors. As
this occurs, storm motion will become increasingly dominated by cold
pool propagation, which should support an uptick in severe wind
potential. Based on output from recent high-res guidance, this
transition may begin around the 5-7 PM MDT time frame.
